As an employer, Hemiko aims to ensure that the talents and skills available throughout the community are considered when employment opportunities arise.

As a district heating network operator and funder, Hemiko aims that no customer, client, employee, associate, contractor or supplier will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of one or more of the protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, sex, sexual orientation) or trade union membership.

Employment

Hemiko is committed to ensuring equal opportunity in all aspects of employment policy and practice. This covers recruitment and selection, training and development, appraisal and promotion and employment procedures, such as disciplinary, sickness and capability. Hemiko’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy explains how we implement the Statement in respect of employment, supplemented by the Harassment, Bullying and Discrimination Procedure.

Service delivery

We are committed to ensuring that the principles of equality underpin the provision of all our services. We monitor the delivery of our services to ensure equality of opportunity, responsiveness, sensitivity and accessibility. We ensure that all staff involved in the provision of services do so in accordance with this equal opportunities statement.

Responsibility for delivery

Hemiko’s CEO has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the effective implementation of the Statement. On a day-to-day basis, that responsibility is delegated to the respective Directors with regard to employment, and our operational businesses with regard to service delivery. However, we expect all our employees, contractors, suppliers and associates to follow the values set out in this statement.
